Faith Kipyegon broke the women's 1500m world record at the Diamond League meeting in Florence on Thursday.
Kipyegon finished the race in 3 minutes 51.07 seconds, breaking the previous record of 3 minutes 50.07 seconds set by Genzebe Dibaba in 2015.
The Kenyan athlete said she had been targeting the record for a long time and was thrilled to have achieved it.
